Captain Owolabi is a Master Mariner with over 25 years of experience in the shipping, oil and gas industry and who had a clear vision of establishing group of companies that will become leading ship-owners and suppliers of refined petroleum products within the global bunkering/shipping industry.
He obtained his Masters Certificate of Competency in 1998 issued by the NIMASA.Thereafter he attended and obtained his Masters in Certificate of Competency from the South Tyneside, United Kingdom between 2004 – 2005. He worked onboard MT ABEBI (4500dwt), a tanker vessel owned by Skolar Shipping Lines Ltd, Victoria Island Lagos as a Master between 1996 – 2000. Thereafter he proceeded as Masters to MT Ocean Challenger, Mt Great Atlantic and Mt Sea Pearl; vessels owned and managed by AL-Dawood Shipping Lines Limited from 2003 – 2004.
He also served as Masters onboard Mt Olympic, 6500MT; vessel owned by Obat Petroleum & Gas Ltd and Mt Olympic Pride (11,500mt).
Through determination, perseverance and hard work he established Azimuth Shipping Lines Ltd in 2001 and subsequently Delakes Oil Trading Limited. These companies have now blossomed to be a household name in the area of shipping, oil and gas. The foundation for his success has proven to be insight, hard work and a wide spreading personal network is based on respect. He is indeed a man of destiny and purpose.
