Member House of Representatives and House Committee Chairman on NDDC, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo on Thursday, February 11, 2021 assured Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State that more developmental projects would be delivered for the Niger Delta people.

Tunji-Ojo gave this assurance when he and his committee members visited Governor Nyesom Wike at the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt on Thursday while on oversight function tour of the state.

He said his committee members were not unaware that people outside the Niger Delta region are skeptical of NDDC management to deliver on its mandates.

Tunji-Ojo however, said that he and his committee members were determined to ensure that the intervention commission would be made to work for the people.

“People outside Niger Delta did not
believe that development could be possible in the region. The projects we have in Rivers State today is an evidence that the Niger Delta can actually work”.

He added that members of the House House Committee on NDDC were in the Rivers State to oversight some agencies in line with section 88 of Nigerian constitution.

“We are here in line with section 88 of the constitution which empowers us to oversight agencies that we appropriate funds for the purpose of ensuring accountability, transparency and effective utilisation of public funds for the benefit of Niger Delta people.

Meanwhile, Tunji-Ojo also assured that NDDC will deliver on its mandates and commission will synergize with critical stakeholders in the region.

“I assure you that under the watchful eyes of this committee, we will ensure that NDDC works in synergy with critical stakeholders of the region”, said Tunji-Ojo.
