Tompolo, the Man Behind the Security Transformation of the Niger Delta- High Chief Asonja

However, in recent years, a remarkable change has taken place, thanks to the efforts of one man: Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.
Tompolo is the founder and CEO of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, a company that provides pipeline surveillance and security services to the Nigerian government and oil companies operating in the Niger Delta.
Tompolo’s company employs thousands of locals, mostly former militants, who have renounced violence and embraced peace.
Tompolo’s vision is to create a secure and prosperous environment for the people of the Niger Delta, while protecting the nation’s vital oil and gas assets.
One of Tompolo’s loyal and trusted lieutenants is High Chief Idowu Asonja, who has been reappointed as the coordinator of Ondo State chapter of Tantita Security Services. Asonja received his letter of reappointment for another three years from the General Manager, Operations and Technical, Tantita Security Services, Sir Godfrey Tare Pondi, on Tuesday.
Asonja expressed his gratitude to Tompolo for his leadership and contributions to the region.
Tompolo’s influence and dedication have yielded remarkable results. Within a short span, his pipeline surveillance initiatives played a pivotal role in bolstering the nation’s oil production.
Nigeria saw a significant increase, from a daily production of 700 barrels to a staggering 1.6 million barrels per day, a testament to his effectiveness in safeguarding the nation’s oil and gas facilities.
Perhaps the most notable achievement has been Tompolo’s resolute efforts to combat oil bunkering and pipeline vandalism. These illicit activities had long thrived in the Niger Delta due to its intricate network of waterways and challenging terrain. However, Tompolo and his team, comprised mainly of locals who intimately understand the region’s complexities, have managed to significantly curtail these nefarious activities.
