Rotary Club Decorates Muyiwa Fajimi As New Charter President

Rotary Club, Ibara GRA, District 9110 has decorated Rotarian Muyiwa Mathew Fajimi has the new Charter President to steer the affairs of club for the next admnistration.

During the Charter Presentation and Investiture held on Sunday at Conference Hotel in Abeokuta, the newly decorated Charter President, Fajimi expressed that the club is ready to embark on public and private sectors partnerahip, to create a Technology Hub and foster prosperity and quality of life within the people and immediate communities through qualitative services.

“My administration will be visible in every aspect of human life positively, and we are ready to partner with both private and public sectors in order achieve a greater communities development through modern equipments, including the creation of Tech Hub for the benefit of the people”, Fajimi said.

“Part of our projects is to work more on grassroots and embark on communities harmonisation, health care services, helping in climate change, environmental sanitation and proper cleaning, youth developmental programs, scholarships, partnership, empowerment and social integration”, Fajimi added.

The Charter president however, advised the youths not to become willing tools in the hands of politicians ahead of the 2023 elections and also pledged to uplift the core values of the Rotary Club, including humanitarian and charity for the society.

Also speaking at the event, the guest speaker and a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential aspirant, Aare Dele Momodu lectured on the theme – “Enabling Social-Economic Development Through Corporate and Personal Social Responsibility” and cautioned Nigerians to desist from vote buying in the coming 2023 general elections, after which he expressed confidence in winning the party’s ticket to contest 2023 election, stressing that, Nigeria needs a leadership that can manage resources and people.

Momodu also noted that – “finance is no longer Nigeria’s challenge, rather, the political class who engage in “wasteful spending and votes buying.”

He therefore, called for an urgent cut in government’s spending with a view to focusing on developmental projects, stressing that – “a lot of Nigerian politicians in government enjoy what they could not enjoy in their private capacity, thereby putting pressure on the nation’s finances”

“The moment you reduce how much you waste on Politicians, you will see that there will be money for development. There will be money for projects”.

The celebrity journalist and publisher of Ovation Magazine further stressed that he is confident of beating other aspirants like former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, among others for the presidential ticket.

Other dignitaries that spoke and expressed their good-will messages at the event included; – the Abeokuta North Local Government Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Alhaja Faidat Akintunde Sarumi, the Chairman, Charter Investiture Committee, Idris Afegbua, Chairman Membership, Rotarian Adeola Monayajo and others.
