Ondo food seller stabs ex-boyfriend over N500, gets bail

The Ondo State Police Command has arraigned a food seller, Seun Sola, before a Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ondo town, for allegedly stabbing her ex-boyfriend, Lomi Akinbinu, during an argument over N500.

Sola was said to have stabbed the victim in his stomach with a knife during a fight between them in the Iyalaje Market area of the town.

The prosecution said the defendant committed the offence on May 4, 2022, around 9:30pm at Iyalaje Market in Ondo.

The offence was said to be contrary to and punishable under Section 338(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The police prosecutor, Mr Bernard Olagbayi, told the court that he would be calling three witnesses to testify and also applied for a date to enable him to study the case file.

Counsel for the defendant, P. O. Afolayan, applied for her bail in liberal terms.



In her ruling, the magistrate, Mrs Charity Adeyanju, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum, stating that the surety must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court.

She adjourned the case till May 30, 2022, for hearing.
