Lagos residents have commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for deeming it necessary to complete nearly all the projects he inherited from his predecessors. This commendation was given in the
mid term assessment of the administration of Sanwo-Olu.

The people of Agege Local Government and Ijaiye-Ojokoro Local Council Development Area of the state have expressed their appreciation to Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the completion of inherited Agege bridge in addition to network of roads in Ijaiye-Ojokoro.

The Executive Director of Lagos based Centre for Public Accountability, Olufemi Lawson has also appreciated Governor Sanwo-Olu for demonstrating that government is indeed a continuum. He however, commended the approach of Sanwo-Olu’s administration in ensuring that virtually all developmental projects left uncompleted by his predecessor were completed as a matter of priority.

Lawson further praised Governor Sanwo-Olu for consolidating on the visions of his predecessors towards transforming Lagos into a mega city in the true sense of it. He equally praised the governor for working assiduously to deliver a greater Lagos.

“The Governor’s commitment towards making Lagos economy bigger than he met it is very significant. This is not appreciable to Lagosians and Nigerians alone, but also the international community. Being conscious of the fast growing population in the state, the administration has focused on improvements in social services such as housing, transportation and security”.

More so, Olufemi Lawson equally applauded Governor Sanwo-Olu for the sustained infrastructural developments by his government. He also praised the governor for spreading infrastructural development across the state in a manner that they were not concentrated in a particular part of the Centre of Excellence. Lawson further noted that developmental projects have evidently become well spread across every district of Lagos State by the administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Meanwhile, he also posited that the Sanwo-Olu’s administration has commendably reduced crime rates by providing regular logistical support to the Police Force and other security agencies in the state. Lawson likewise applauded the Lagos Governor for his heavy investment on developmental initiatives for youths in the state which include skills acquisition programmes, educational support, loans and grants.

“Lagos under Governor Sanwo-Olu has been able to maintain its status, as a clean city, as thousands of workers are engaged day and night in cleaning the roads and taking away the dirt. An efficient garbage collection service supports the cleaning efforts.

“Honestly, in as much as there are lots of works to be done, we cannot but express our happiness that things are working for the better, despite the numerous challenges”.

Moreover, Lawson has urged Sanwo-Olu to commit the remaining years of his administration to undertake more ambitious developmental projects such as investment in education, creation of a rail network, bus lanes and a waste collection system. He also advised the governor to continue with the projects of massive road rehabilitation across Lagos State.

Moreso, coordinator of the Coalition of Civil Society Organisations (COCSO) and some
25 eSOS, Dr. Gabriel Nwambu has also rated the performance of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu very high in the last two years. He equally expressed his appreciation for the governor’s aggressive and systematic approach to road infrastructures that had been delivered in quite a numbers of urban and rural communities.

“I want him to improve on water project. Almost every city in Nigeria is so poorly flooded with water and we need to see properly planned efforts to overcome this problem in Lagos. But he has done so well on roads and building community road infrastructures.

“He has done very well. I will give him a high pass mark. He has done things that I am proud of. He has done very well. He should improve more on the issue of security, infrastructures and water. I think those are the challenges he needs to focus on the more”.

In addition, the coordinator of Centre for Credible Leadership and Citizens Awareness has equally commended the revenue generation ingenuity of Governor Sanwo-Olu in view of the global economic meltdown occasioned by the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic. He emphasized that the pandemic had ruined global economy.

“Global economy had gone down and Nigeria is not an exception. Lagos State too is also not an exception because it is an integral part of Nigeria. Most of the revenues in Nigeria are generated from Lagos State.

“You know, when you talk about FIRS and others, Lagos State is one major state with the chunks of the revenues; but I know that the impact of Covid-19 has affected the state. So, Sanwo-Olu as the governor has scored a pass mark. He has performed credibly well given the circumstances he found himself in governance”, added Gabriel Nwambu.
