Kebbi Governor’s Aide Beats Up Musicians Mercilessly For “Insulting” The Governor

Eight musicians who are origins of Kebbi State have been physically abused, following an order from Governor Bagudu’s Personal Assistant, Faruku Musa Yaro popularly known as Enabo. They include, Kabiru Arzila, Musa Alle, Ayuba Ibrahim, Shamsu Attahiru, Bello Aljannare, Otono and others.

Yaro ordered the assault of these young musicians at his residence and ensured that they were properly dealt with. This was because they used their songs to criticise the incumbent governor’s administration.
One of the musicians, Arzila, reported that four of them were picked up at Abacha Hotel around 3:30am on Monday by ten “hoodlums” who broke the door and took them to the residence of Faruku Musa. They never believed it would resort to violence.
He admitted that they criticized the government through their songs because they felt it was their obligation as citizens of the state to condemn whatever is not right. “we owe our people a duty to criticise bad governance and that’s exactly what we did in one of our songs. We couldn’t keep quiet while Governor Bagudu continues to ruin our state through bad governance”.

About how they were treated, Arzila said that they were mercilessly beaten and asked to reveal who sponsored them to criticize the government with their song. Afterwards, they were warned by Yaro never to malign either the governor or any of the officials of Kebbi State Government before they were released.
The victims are currently undergoing medical attention and treatment at the hospital. However, all attempts made to reach Yaro concerning the allegations proved abortive as he was within reach.
