Group Commend Hon. Akinfolarin for bill on NYSC Trust Fund

The Youth wing of the Odigbo, Oke-Igbo, Ile-Oluji Progressive Group have commended its Federal lawmaker at the green chamber, Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin for sponsoring the bill on the creation of a National Youth Service Trust Fund.

The bill, sponsored by Mayowa Akinfolarin (APC, Ondo), seeks to compel all organized private entities to contribute one per cent of their net profit to the fund. In addition, 0.2 per cent of total revenue accruing to the federation account will fund the entity.

According to the spokesperson of the group, Mr. Iwalade Joseph explained that the trust fund was very necessary as it would make an enormous impact.

According to him, “if this bill is established, it will help in securing skill and acquisitions funds for the youth corps members and also used to empower them when they are done serving the country.

“The bill is an attempt to begin an essential and long-overdue conversation about the future of the National Youth Service Corps and the options for reforming the corps so that in whatever form it continues to exist, it serves the best interests of our beloved country.”

The group also commended the lawmaker for taking the effort to sponsor the bill, according to them, this has shown that Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin is no push over in the green chamber. As revealed by Mr. Iwalade Joseph, Hon. Akinfolarin has proven his onions times without number and he has shown that he has the qualities and nerve to push for bills that will have direct impact on the people.
