The work of the media in the 21st century has indeed evolved, rather than the usual where it’s just a platform for information dissemination, it has become a veritable tool for social change and objective advocacy.
Last week Citizen Tosin , an investigative Journalist at Sahara Reporters and other groups led the advocacy for the release of one of the accused ENDSARS protesters, Mrs. Kemisola Ogunniyi, who arrested by the members of the Nigerian Police Force on the claims that she was one of the Hoodlums who went about destroying public properties.
Mrs. Kemisola Ogunniyi who was two months pregnant at the time of the arrest was reported to have given birth while in detention. Thanks to the investigation made by Citizen Tosin, the Ondo State Government has seen to her immediate release as she has been reunited with her family.
This is a clarion call to all journalist out there to ensure that journalism is indeed used as a tool for social change and growth.
