BTO is Now Focus of Campaign of Calumny In Ondo State
Numerous anonymous groups, operating under various obscure names, have entered the public sphere with the intention of discrediting individuals in our political landscape. They have specifically targeted the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, employing tactics that include using pseudonymous groups to promote misleading statements and propaganda.
Their agenda appears to revolve around advancing their personal interests within our socio-political framework. This behavior is deeply disheartening, as it runs counter to the principles that should govern our political discourse. It is driven by animosity and malice toward a public figure whose integrity and commitment to the greater good are widely recognized by the general public. Such political theatrics are intrinsically harmful.
During his tenure as a federal lawmaker, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo not only demonstrated exceptional performance but also established a legacy that will endure for generations. He exemplified the ideals of effective representation.
Furthermore, as a minister of the federal republic of Nigeria, he has already made a significant impact within a relatively short time.
Those targeting him due to the bye-election in Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency should exercise restraint and reconsider their approach. Hon. Tunji-Ojo has not declared his candidacy, and like any other citizen, he possesses only one vote.
He has affirmed his commitment to ensuring that this election accurately reflects the will of the people and no one else’s agenda.
Also, it is more baffling that this group of individuals has been supporting disruptive political actors in disseminating falsehoods, suggesting that Tunji-Ojo has aspirations to run for the gubernatorial election in Ondo State in 2024.
This is in spite of his clear statements that he neither endorses a candidate for the election nor harbors any personal interest in running for the position.
For these individuals, their primary focus appears to be tarnishing reputations for their own narrow gains. They have channeled resources that could have been utilized for community development into empowering young individuals on social media to propagate falsehoods and propaganda.
