AKANBIEMU BAGS AWARD OF EXCELLENCE

made this morning in the Agency as the Executive members of National Association of Northern Nigeria Students ( NANNS) represented by the General Secretary, Comrade Bashir Nasir, the Publicity Secretary Comrade Abdulrasaq Yahaya and the Dir. Transports / Logistics Comrade Sulaiman Lawan came all the way from Northern Nigeria to present award of Excellence to the Permanent Secretary , Dr Francis Akanbiemu ( MBBS,MPH, FWACP) as an “epitome of Health Care Development”

The Association which did not attach any monetary value for their award said the Awardee has distinguished himself in the health sector through his hard work and doggedness.

Specific mentions were made to his activities during the COViD -19 pandemic, tackling Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD), Measles campaign, polio etc

According to the leader of the team Comrade Bashir, Dr Akanbiemu was nominated after a detail independent survey by the Association.

While highlighting the roles of the Association, the General Secretary Comrade Bashir Nasir said the Association is fighting the scourge of examination malpractices, cultism, thuggery insecurity, gender base violence, unemployment and as well advocating for gender equality, patriotism, Youth entrepreneurship improved health system as well as girl Child education across the Country.

The Association has also worked with Phamacytical Society of Nigeria to discourage the menace of drug abuse and addiction and Center for Democratic Studies on non violence election in Nigeria.

In his response, the award recipient and the Permanent Secretary Dr Francis Akanbiemu said who was elated that a body from far not could recognize his roles in the health sector down south, dedicated the award to members of staff of the Agency adding that the successes recorded in the Agency was as result of hard work and commitment of all the staff.

Akanbiemu who said he is not giving to frivolous awards but accepted this after he has researched and carefully study their antecedents and found them worthy, advised the Student body to continue to strive hard on the oneness of Nigeria, saying there is strength in unity

While speaking on behalf of other Directors, the Director Disease Control and Immunization Dr Victor Adefesoye who thanked the body for the initiatives urged them to network with other students from other parts of the Country and wage war against the various ills that have bedeviled the country saying they are the future leader of the Country.
