Adeola Ebisemiju: The oil and media entrepreneur with an eye on Alagbaka
Some qualities distinguish and qualify a man for leadership – academic accomplishments, success in career and business, while experience and exposure stand out among them.
Any man gunning to lead must be able to present some credentials that attest to his previous success in the past, leadership shouldn’t be by accident, it should be by preparedness.
Adeola Ebisemiju, archaeologist, oil expert, media entrepreneur, ticked all the boxes on the checklist.
Youthful, brilliant and resourceful, Ebisemiju, a graduate of Archaeology and Anthropology from the Premier University – the University of Ibadan, was born to Chief and Chief Mrs Ademola Ebisemiju of Idiogba-Ugbo of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Starting off his academic pursuit from the famous Esther Kawe Memorial Nursery and Primary School in Okitipupa, through Unity Secondary School, Ode-Aye also in Okitipupa, Ebisemiju sealed his academic sojourn with a bachelor’s degree from Ibadan.
After leaving Ibadan, he moved up north to Borno State to obey the clarion call, Ruby Springfield College Maiduguri was his place of primary assignment for the one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Afterwards, he returned to Akure, the Ondo State capital to delve into his career path working with Afro Stuff S.A.S Nigeria as a Project Supervisor and as a Sales Officer with Wabi Plus Nigeria Ltd., a key distributor with Guinness Nigeria Plc.
Not too long after, Ebisemiju moved up the ladder of his career by taking up appointment as a Sales Manager with Premium Farm in Ikorodu, Lagos, from there he proceeded to Ibadan in Oyo State where he worked as a Business Manager with Avian Specialities Ltd.
No one lights a candle and puts it under the bed, they put it out, it shines, illuminates and never take long before it becomes what everyone wants to associate with. That rightly describes the case of Ebisemiju’s career growth. While at Avian Specialities, he moved on to join Chicken Republic as an Outlet Manager in Ibadan.
Not too long after, he moved into the oil sector and joined Ascon Oil Ltd in Lagos, Grand Petroleum and Chemicals Ltd soon came calling and he joined as a Business Development Manager. His last experience as an employee was as a Sales Manager with Northbridge Energy Ltd.
His career in the oil sector soon unfurled as he stepped aside from employee role to becoming the CEO of Oil Exco Ltd, as well as Regiment Guards. As he could no longer hide his love for media, Ebisemiju founded Dose Magazine.
His movement through the tail of the ladder of his career to his present level where he sits atop as an oil and media entrepreneur has instilled in him something that distinguishes him and makes him fully qualified for any leadership position.
As it was in high demand in private sector, Ebisemiju’s persona and rich experience are needed at no better time than now in the public sector to drive radical change.
Aside from being an active member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ebisemiju also belongs to several professional and social groups – the Nigeria Ukraine Business Council; Triumph Chamber of Commerce; the Egbe Otun Oye Traditional Council of Ibadan.
Ebisemiju, married to Oluwaseyi with two daughters, is eyeing the Alagbaka plum job. He wants to succeed Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) in 2020 under the platform of the APC.
If it is about being qualified and well equipped with the skills and experience needed for the job, no doubt, only naysayers would cast a doubt on Ebisemiju’s ability to give Ondo credible leadership. He is eminently qualified and has paid the necessary dues to make a good leader.
At a recent gathering, Ebisemiju spoke glowingly about his plans and policy positions that will drive a radical economic and all round development across all strata of the State economy.
