They are for all who pursue them, they are for the ones who will take the bull by the horn to walk the path of wisdom coupled with a courageous spirit.


Engr. Dorcas Akinwunmi is one of those few who have through the course of her existence dedicated herself to the path of progress, one which is motivated by the pure urge to succeed and thrive in a Patriarchal society.


An individual who has always left an indelible mark on all that she lay her hands on. Mrs Akinwunmi represents an accomplished professional and mother model who is worthy to be celebrated and commended .


Born to the family of Reverend Manoah Adebiran Fabuluje and Mrs Beatrice Ibirinade Fabuluje of Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, having began her academic sojourn in the ancient town of Owo, where she attended St. Peter’s CAC Primary School, Owo before moving to Owo High School and the New Church Grammar School for her Secondary School education where she graduated in the year 1988.


She has risen through the various academic ladders of the nation’s Educational system to create for herself an amazing Career and Professional experience.


Presently in pursuit of a Doctoral degree, She had worked in various Civil Engineering Consultancy firms across and outside the State, she also serves in the Capacity of External Moderator to Civil Engineering Department of Tertiary Institutions within and outside the State. She joined the Service of the Ondo State Civil Service in the year 2010, where she is still working till date, she is currently the Deputy Chief Resident Engineer in project office of the Ondo State Ministry of works and infrastructure.


She is a member of the following professional bodies, The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Fellow, Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (FNICE), Member, Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Member, The Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE)


Worth of note, she is the first female to assume the post of Deputy Chief Resident Engineer (DCRE) of the ministry in the history of the State, even from the era of the then Western State. She also served as the Vice Chairman of Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Akure chapter. She is also the Matron of Civil Engineering Students’ Association, Futa Branch.


Adding to her feathers, She is the 5th Chairman of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria, Akure Branch.

This is no small feat considering the caliber of worthy members the association boast of. Her journey to achieving this feat cannot be undermined as she has in various ways contributed to the development and growth of the Profession and the Association. In all the capacities where she has served the association, she has made herself a precious asset, one who’s leadership skills and experience have indeed help the chapter attained a greater height.


Engr. (Mrs.) Akinwumi Dorcas Oluwawemimo who has since the inauguration of the Association in 2012 served as an executive member in various capacities until she rose to the post of the chairman, is an affectionate personality with urbane disposition, an asset of inestimable value who is not only on top of her chosen trade but also possesses unequalled charisma.


As highlighted in her speech during her acceptance speech at the Investiture Ceremony as the 5th Chairman of the Association, she exhumes a great deal of humility as well as confidence, one which is needed to overcome the challenges ahead as she steers the wheel of the association.
