Women Academics Honour Prof. Ajibefun
The Nigerian Association of Women Academics, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, yesterday, honoured the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Igbekele Amos Ajibefun, for the achievements recorded during his tenure as Vice Chancellor.
The women academics who paid an unscheduled visit to the Vice Chancellor’s office, desribed Professor Ajibefun as a gender-friendly vice chancellor whose tenure developed the womenfolk. The association showered praises on him for his accomplishments as vice chancellor and wished him successes in his future endeavours.
Speaking on behalf of the association, Dr. (Mrs.) Kikelomo Olugbemi, said, “We are here to tell you that you have done well. We are to commend you and to honour you with a token of gift as a show of love and appreciation for your achievements and your support for the womenfolk in the university. We are here to commend you for ending your tenure without crisis and for doing well for women.”
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the women for the show of appreciation and promise to continue to suppport the association even after his exit from AAUA as Vice Chancellor.
VC said, “This is a plesant suprise for me and I appreciate it deeply. Any organisation or society that fails to give women their pride of place cannot progress. “You shocked me pleasantly. I was so shocked that I dont know what exactly to say but I must say that I aporeciate this show of love and it will forever remain indelible in my memory.”
