With Tolu Adegbie, ODIRS is Soaring High

When institutions work, functioning efficiently as designed, credit must be given to the people behind the effective running and administration of these institutions.

In Ondo State, the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service [ODIRS] has so far proven itself to be among one of the best agencies under the Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu led administration in Ondo State. The ease and effectiveness with which they use in delivering top-notch service delivery is second to none, helping the state to attain more financial growth through revenue generation. Behind this wonderful and laudable achievements is Mr. Tolu Adegbie, the Executive Chairman of Ondo State Internal Revenue Service.

The Ondo State Board of Internal Revenue is the apex government agency charged with the responsibility of superintending internally generated revenue [IGR] in Ondo State. Under his watch, the agency has seen the internally generated revenue of the state rise in greatly, yielding more financial gain for the state which has gone a long way in financing several other sustainable projects and initiatives in the state under the Akeredolu led administration, which many has described as highly unprecedented. Through the amiable management and administrative skills of, Mr. Tolu Adegbie has championed the excellent performance of the agency.

Mr. Tolu Adegbie succeeded in building a strong and formidable synergy between the agency and the Ondo State Government and this has yielded immense positive impacts on the people, notable among them is the enablement of the business tax-friendly system which has succeeded in ensuring that no business is overburdened with tax in the state. Also he has facilitated the capturing of over 200,00 tax payers in Ondo State as it the agency has set it sight on meeting its one million tax payer target. These recent development is among the factors responsible for the growth of the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR)from N700million to N2.2billion. Also as part of the restructuring of the agency which happened under him through the efforts of the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, a new ultra-modern office complex was built for the agency.

The new building is a one stop-shop which has all the needed facilities to aid tax payment without any hassle. The vibrancy and transparent brought into play under the management of Mr. Adegbie is among the numerous major reason which has ensured the ease of tax payment and consequently boosted the IGR of the State.

Also in another unprecedented act, under the leadership of Mr. Adegbie, the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service remitted the sum of Twelve Million Naira to all the 18 local government areas in the state, being for Radio and Television Licensing fee. Before this, the sum of 100 million naira was shared between state and local government areas being the sum collected as Land Use Charge for the year 2020[January to May]. With the structure created under the leadership of Mr. Adegbie, the agency has never performed this better when it comes to its Corporate Social Responsibility[CSR], the agency has succeeded in grading twelve communities’ roads across the three senatorial districts of the state. Idebi-aiyeka road in Okitipupa and Powerline Sabo road in Ondo Town, Ifesowapo Community road Akure and Act of Apostles road behind Sheebi filing station Akure, Elekumo Community Alagbaka Extension II and Oba Adesida Adebiyi Estate Alagbaka Extension are some of the roads graded by the agency.

Adding to the aforementioned the agency has also held various soft skill trainings for it members of staff, the training which was approved by Mr. Tolu Adegbie was put in place to ensure the further empowerment of its members for more qualitative service delivery. There is no doubt that the these past few years has enjoyed a massive turnaround which not only has been made possible through the intentional efforts of the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN. but also through the strong and ever reliable leadership provided by Mr. Tolu Adegbie.
