Wife Of Ondo State Governor Talks Tough Against Gender Based Violence Offenders

The Wife of Ondo State Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwun-Akeredolu has frowned at the increase in gender-based violence and sexual abuse in our society, calling for mass support against the scourge.

Mrs Akeredolu spoke at a seminar tagged ‘The First Lady as Leaders and Mobilisers of Women and Youth for Peace Building, Community Conflict Resolution and Resilience in the Post COVID-19 Era’ (AFLPM) in Abuja, said, she has on a daily basis cudgel her brain on how to find a lasting solution to the problem.

She called on parents to monitor the movement of their children, particularly females, to guide against all forms of abuse.

‘The First Lady advocated a collective responsibility in checking the rising case of violence and other vices.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Diaspora Matters, Mrs Abike Dabiri- Erewa encouraged youth to be more proactive in rising up to the task as violence comes in different forms and could be found in the family, community and larger society.

On her part, the Senior Special Assistant to Ondo State Governor on Women Affairs, Mrs Toyin Akinmoyo called on women across the state to put in all strategic efforts in actualising the dream of complete eradication of gender based violence.

Furthermore, she encouraged victims of gender based violence to report to government agencies, to nip in the bud such despicable act.

Mrs Akinmoyo lauded the noble efforts by Mrs Akeredolu through her support for women in the state. She’s indeed an embodiment of wisdom and candour.
