The birth of a Socio-Political Movement, ANIYOM, in Akokoland
Ahead of the 2023 general elections, a new Socio-political group, Akoko North Intellectual youth movement (ANIYOM) has been formed at Okeagbe Akoko in Akoko North West Local government area of Ondo state
The group, it was learnt came into existence on the 23rd of January 2022 with the aims of abolishing mortgaging of Akoko North youths future.
It has members across Akoko North West and North East Local government with different intellectual organizations which includes; NACAS (National congress of Akoko Students), NYC (Nigeria youth council), AYF (Akoko youth Forum), All indigenous youths and All indigenous students.
Others are, None indigenous youths (Igbo, Hausa, Ebira, and Fulani), Political youths (APC, PDP, SDP and other political parties), Special people, Youths in agricuture, SPW (Special work programme), NULGE (National union of local government employee) and NUT (Nigeria union of teachers)
The Convener is a foremost youths administrator in Ondo state, Evangelist Olumuyiwa Asagunla, Odofin Ogboye of Afa Okeagbe Land.
ANIYOM is a grassroots socio-political movement whose aim and objectives is to play a vital role in the next general election comes 2023 election and to ensure the deepening of democracy in Akokoland.
The President of the group Comrade Mayowa Abiola Adojutelegan while speaking commended Hon. Olumuyiwa Asagunla for mentoring the movement and enhanced it with all logistics that would help to facilitate it nothing that “since 1999, our federal constituency, just like others within Ondo North Senatorial District have not heard meaningful representation unlike now, although a cross board, but ours with distinction, values and character.
“It’s one on the moments in anal of our history that when right people are entrust with public responsibilities, they must be accountable to those people they represents.
“Therefore, the recent political activities in Nigeria has demanded an inclusive as well as exclusive participation and involvement of young people in politics, as the only sustainable panacea to achieving growth and development.
“It’s in this spirit we the youths of Akoko North Federal Constituency agrees to come together under one umbrella to organised ourselves into a socio-political movement in defence of our democracy, promote all political interests that tends to certify, ensure deliver and attract dividends of democracy to the constituency at all levels of governance.
“That such agenda will be pursued by all within the component elements of the movement to the glory of God and benefits of mankind.
“As we all know that the might of youths in politics can’t be underrated as well as underestimated due to their active involvement in political stadium and their social-understanding that can’t be pushed aside
“This Galant movement (ANIYOM) will help to segregate the bad leaders from good ones in Akoko North federal constituency and by extension Akoko land generally. This movement is ready to eradicate voters apath , buying/trading in our dear constituency. All we clamours for is good representation and Youths inclusiveness in political matter in Akoko land”, he maintained
Adojutelegan therefore stressed that the movement is working meritoriously to expand there tentacles to other Local governments in Akoko land and states in the nearest future.
