I am inclined to attest to the midas touch of Mr Kingsley Kemebradigha Kuku,Phd, in the lives of his people. Dr KKK, as a friend, has been well known to some of us as a game changer right from his elementary days in the creeks of the Niger Delta through his outstanding times in schools, especially during the yore days as a Students’ Union leader and an activist at the then Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti.
In his foray into the murky Nigeria political water, little surprise that he excelled and ultimately made huge differences in his duties and responsibilities as a member of the Federal Executive Council and the helsman of the F.G Presidential Amnesty Programme Office under ex-President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan. When unconfirmed stories began to trickle in about how he used his good offices and personal influence and efforts in turning around Arogbo Town in Ese-Odo L.G, I had to undertake a first-hand confirmatory tour to the traditional headquarters of the Ijaw-Arogbo.
Lo and behold, I was stunned to my bone marrow seeing the massive developmental initiatives an individual has attracted to his Community and immediate environment. In a marshy and muddy Arogbo axis of Ese-Odo L.G’s landscape, where it costs a gargantuan fortune to bring about capital projects, Dr KKK sandfilled waterways, constructed concrete roads and drainage projects across the length and breadth of the ancient town which had hitherto lacked such facilities. He installed solar powered electricity all around Arogbo and environs,all at a personal cost. Building and renovations of public and some private facilities were also carried out at the personal expense and sacrifice by this Arogbo born selfless and kindhearted politician. He lent uncommon social-economic supports across board in Ese-Odo L.G and amongst his neglected Ijaw and Niger Delta kiths and kins.
Perhaps, Dr Kingsley Kuku’s personal landmark touches in his native land is second to none in the annals of personal community interventions in the Niger Delta Region and Ondo South Senatorial District.
It’s no exaggeration when Publisher Femi Salako reiterated the obvious, that in his domain, “…till date, Dr Kuku’s legacies remain unparalleled…”.
N.B: Far from it that anyone is trying to act a P.R jobber in any way, especially in this instance. I have just restated the good deeds of an exceptional politician. Period.
