NIGERIA NAVY INVADES COMMUNITIES IN ILAJE LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF ONDO STATE.
At about 5am on Wednesday 19th of February, 2020 till This morning men of the Nigeria Navy, acting under the directive of Commodore Danjuma Ndanusa, the C.O., Forward Operating Base, Igbokoda, Ilaje local Govt. Area of ondo state invaded Some Communities in Ugbo kingdom. The invasion which has led to the paralyses of the economic activities, destruction of lives and properties and maiming while some of the members of the communities are still nowhere to be found. As at the time of writing this report, over 5 people have been already reportedly dead and several injuried. The rationale behind this invasion is not unconnected with the incident that happened in Agge, Bayelsa State which led to the killing of four Naval ratings and abduction of three foreigners in the area.
As we write community heads and some youth have being tied at various Jetties.
You will recall that some abductors went into the sea in Bayelsa State early this year but grounded at Gbagira community sea- shore on their way to find an escape route. One of our fishermen who was going about his normal fishing activity was gun – commanded by the abductors to help them get fuel, whom in pretence agreed with them but technically took one of them to Naval Base, at Awoye and alerted the officers of the presence of one of the abductors who later escaped due to the negligence of the officers on duty. It was the same fisherman who also informed the Nigeria Navy that the other abductor and three white men were in a boat by the sea- shore, near Gbagira community. Thereafter, the Nigeria Navy went after the abductor and exchange gunshot for hours, yet, they could not arrest the abductor let alone rescuing the foreigners.
It will interest you to know that, it took the community’s efforts to rescue the three foreigners, arrested the abductor and handed over them to the men of the Nigeria Navy with the abductor’s gun. Rather than celebrating and appreciating the good people of Ugbo kingdom, for assisting them on the above matter, they are being punished to gain an unnecessary recognition.
It should be recalled that, it was the same commodore Danjuma Ndanusa that was the I.O. of the F.O.B., Igbokoda sometimes in 2012 when Sina Ogonnoh and Afro Meduoye were shot dead during an empowerment programme at the Nigeria Navy officers Mess Igbokoda. In the same vein, Commodore Danjuma Ndanusa linked the Bayelsa incident of killing of four Naval ratings with Mr. Tale Iwatan with the aim of killing him in the same way Mr. Sina Ogonnoh and Afro Meduoye were killed. The obnoxious action which the Nigeria Navy could not justify even till date but for our crisis solving mechanisms which averted the spread of the crisis.
OUR PRAYERS :
(1) That the activities of the Nigeria Navy under the watch of Commodore Danjuma Ndanusa, C.O., F.O.B., Igbokoda should be investigated.
(2) The Nigeria Navy should be mandated to look for the missing people
(3) The Nigeria Navy should release our people arrested in connection with this unfounded allegation without further delay.
(4) There should be an urgent all inclusive security meeting in Ilaje L.G
(5) They should also be Mandated to refurbish the destroyed properties.
(6) They should also be mandated to refund the looted money belonging to our people.
