Following the passing of a vote of confidence on Hon. Rasheed Elegbeleye, the minority leader of the Ondo State House of Assembly, members of the party from Akoko North East has tendered an official letter to the State Party Chairman in the state condemning the act.

In a letter which was signed by Alhaji Yusuf Hamzat and 20 other members of the party from the Local Government, it’s stated that, ” We note with deep concern the induced action taken by some Exco and Leaders of our party within our local government wherein a letter was issued by these members in a show of shame in support for Hon Rasheed Elegbeleye. We are equally not unaware that some signatures were forged.”

“While not denying these members of our party their right of choice on matters of who and what to support, we write to dissociate ourselves from the purported endorsement granted to the said Hon Rasheed Elegbeleye.”

It would be recalled the party had suspended some members of the party including the Minority Leader of the House of Assembly, Hon. Rasheed Elegbeleye for alleged anti-party activities and following this, a group of party members had went ahead to pass a vote of confidence on him.

While condemning the act, they further stated,”We express our displeasure with the action taken, which sought to disrespect the position of the STATE WORKING AND EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE which had earlier suspended the member representing Akoko North East local government at the State House of Assembly for verified misconduct and evidenced anti party activities culminating in his open parochial and uncultured collusion with opposition members within the state against our great party.”

They further added,” The action of Hon Rasheed Elegbeleye, which evidently indicates a lack of finesse, lack of intellectual exposure and deep ignorance on the rudiments of public administration must remain the burden of the same individual.”

According to them,” Mr. Chairman sir, as leaders in our own right and ones who have shown deep commitment and sacrifice to the defense of our party in Akoko North East local government and the state, we hereby support your action as administrators of the good conscience of our party and appeal that the unacceptable and totally irresponsible action taken by these individuals, be not used as the datum by which our local government is judged.”

The Leaders assured the State Party Chairman of their continual and unalloyed support for the Party in the State.
