There is need for everyone to be able to read and write,as no amount of knowledge acquired is a waste.To this end, lawmaker representing Akoko South West Constituency I in the Ondo State House of Assembly,Akogun Olugbenga Omole flagged off Adult Literacy Centers in 5 primary schools in his Constituency.
These centers are specially designed to cater for those who are advanced in age but still desire to be educated. It is also.aimes at fulfilling lifelong dreams of interested members of the Constituency.
Akogun Omole, who is also the Chairman House Committee on Information, Youth and Sports Development, described education as an integral part of living and very crucial to developing the state and the nation at large.
Omole, said he was moved to carry out the project, so as to boost the literacy level of his people.
Majority leader of the State House of Assembly Hon.Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi who also graced the event implored the benefiaries to make judicious use of the opportunity given to them.
The Permanent Secretary Board for Adult,Technical and Vocational Education Dr Tosin Adekugbe, who was represented by one of the Director in the Agency Mr.Olatunji Sunday, lauded Omole’s commitment to paying the staff of the centres. He noted that the board will give it’s full backing to the centres.
The Head Teacher of Ebenezer African Church Primary School Agba,Oka, Mrs Atere thanked the lawmaker for his concerns about the growth of his people.
Also, an important chieftain of the community Chief (Pastor) Samuel Kolade Anota,the Olofin of Agba described the initiative as timely and worthy of emulation.
The adult Illiteracy centres are St.Clara Iwaro Oka,LA II Primary School Oka Odo,Ebenezer African Church Primary School Agba Oka,ZI primary school Ikese,Oka and St.Saviours African Church Primary School Ikanmu Oka.
