This is in fulfillment of the governor campaign promise of restoring and upgrading Ajana Afa of Okeagbe to the rightful position as part of the efforts to meet the agitations of the people spanning many decades.

Okeagbe Akoko, the Headquarters of Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State has been without first class traditional ruler for decades even with the creation of the council.

Consequently, the community and the palace came alive as the natives and residents went into jubilation storming the palace.

While reacting to the elevation, the Ajana Afa of Okeagbe Akoko, Oba Oladunjoye Fajana, his Chiefs in Council and the entire community thanked Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the gesture describing the present government as a Rescue Administration which has decided to follow the wishes and yearnings of the people of the town.

“We are so happy with the elevation because traditional Institution remains a veritable partner in development of the State particularly in peace and security.

“All community salute Mr Governor for his passion and commitment to the growth and development of the community. We extremely grateful to God Almighty who made elevation possible and also grateful to the state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, and members of his cabinets, and the entire people of Okeagbe who stood by us since the commencement of the struggle.

“We are assuring Mr. Governor that the existing peace will continue alongside with developmental projects”, they said.

However, an apparently elated Oba Oladunjoye Fajana, the Ajana Afa of Okeagbe expressed joy and appreciation to Governor Akeredolu on the upgrading which he said was long overdue.

He said: “Definitely, my first reaction on receiving the news is that of great joy,” the royal father, who ascended the throne over 30 years said.

“And I profusely thank our dear and amiable Governor, for not only bringing this good news to me when I am still alive but the entire citizens of Afa Okeagbe both at home and in diaspora.

“This upgrading is long overdue, and for coming into reality under the leadership of Governor OluwarotimiAkeredolu, let me say, on behalf of all indigenes of Afa Okeagbe Community, that we are indeed grateful to our governor and we shall continue to appreciate him for the great upliftment given to our throne.”

According to Oba Fajana, the new status will propel him to do more for the people of Okeagbe and Yoruba race.

“With this upgrading, I will continue to dedicate myself to the service of the people, and let me say that the sky is the limit on many greater developments that will happen in my domain,” the traditional ruler stressed.

Ends.
