A group, Yoruba Nation Global Directorate(YNGD) has lambasted
the Inspector General of Police over his pronouncement that the Nigeria Police would be investigating the agitation for Biafra and Yoruba Nation.
In a statement signed by the Information Cordinator for group, Otunba Demola Edward said no threats would discourage their determination to demand for actualisation of a sovereign Yọruba nation.
His words: “We found it interesting that the Police that failed woefully in its primary duties of maintaining law and order and securing the lives and properties of citizens under the disputable federal government is now threatening citizens of various nationalities within a mere geographical expression exercising their fundamental human rights of self- determination under international law and jurisprudence.
“While we view this as a ploy to criminally harass legitimate agitators for Yoruba Nation, we say unequivocally that no threats will discourage our determination to demand for actualisation of a sovereign Yọruba nation which will safe our people from the ongoing massacre and the impending genocide by the Fulani backed by government of Nigeria, who are hell bent on forcefully taking over our land”, he said
He went on : “It is disheartening to note that the failed Nigeria state is evidently unsafe for Yoruba citizens, as economic woes, incessant kidnapping, raping, and murders by Fulani continue to heighten in our land.
“We reiterate that our quest to exit Nigeria under peaceful, civil and legal means were undermined by the failed Gen. Buhari-led government.
“It is noteworthy that propositions made to the Nigerian government by the Yoruba Nation in conjunction with other ethnic nationalities have so far been ignored by Buhari’s administration, a Fulani leader under whose watch the atrocities aforementioned are now a daily common occurrence.
“Suffices to say that the Yọruba nation are not ignorant of the fulani-led administration plans to execute a grand evil plan to conquer Yọruba land and subjugate Yọruba citizens on their original ancestral home land.
Edward however urged all agitators for Yoruba Nation, Middle Beltans, and Biafra home and diaspora to continue their liberation activities without let or hindrance.
“The Directorate takes cognisance of the treaties of commonwealth, the African Union and United Nations. Our quest for self determination is non negotiable.
“The Yoruba Nation Global Directorate hereby advice the grossly incompetent Nigeria Police Force to rather take counsel from the Attorney General of disputable federation in respect of their legal position following NINAS’s declaration of the Constitutional force majuere dated 16st December 2020 and the 90 days Notice given to the default Nigeria government that expired on the 16th of March 2021.
“The Directorate respectfully encourages Yọruba citizens to remain calm and peaceful in their daily conduct and to conduct themselves in accordance with Ọmọlúwàbí ethos pending the peaceful exit of Yọruba nation from the old Nigeria state.
“The Directorate is not unaware of the serious infraction of the rights of one of our illustrious sons, Mr. Femi Adeleye, who was kidnapped and detained by the Ogún State Police Command who along with others exercised his inalienable right to public assembly and association participated at the Ògún State rally on Saturday May 5,2021. Even under the repudiated 1999 Constitution as amended, the federal Court had recognised the rights of the people to peaceful protests and assembly.
“The Directorate hereby condemns his detention for more than a week without access to his lawyers or family. The fact that he was badly beaten by the police is a symbol of repression and terrorism by agents of Nigeria government”, he added.
