Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin, member of Federal House of Assembly representing Odigbo, Oke-Igbo, Ile-Oluji Constituency, Ondo State has pushed forth for the bill for an Act to Establish the National Youth Service Corps Trust Fund(NYSCTF)
The lawmaker presented the bill at the floor of the house on the 20th of January,2022 during a plenary session.
As explained by him, the bill is for an Act to establish the National Youth Service Corps Trust Fund to, among other things, provide sustainable source of funds for NYSC, Skill Acquisition training and provision of startup capital to Corps members, train and retrain the personnel of the NYSC, develop Camps and NYSC formations and provide facilities therein.
He also stated that bill which has passed the second reading will also push for an Act which will help improve the general welfare of Corps Members and Personnel of the Scheme and to further enhance their preparedness to effectively discharge their statutory duties of promoting national unity, integration and accelerated development of the national economy.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila appreciated the lawmaker for sponsoring the bill which he explained will go a long way in rejigging the NYSC scheme for more effectiveness in the Nation. Other Lawmakers present also lauded Hon. Akinfolarin for the bill.
