Highly Exceptional and Brilliant Senator Tolu Odebiyi Celebrates Two Years Anniversary
Brilliance, excellence and unprecedented are the words that comes to the fore when we talk about the highly distinguished Senator Tolu Odebiyi, senator of the Federal republic of Nigeria representing Ogun west senatorial district, Yewa-land. Men within our socio-political discourse who has risen above the lines of mediocrity to adding real value to the political cum developmental narrative of Yewa-land and Nigeria at large. Adding another milestone to his highly feathered cap as a public servant, he celebrates his second year anniversary as a member of the Red Chamber, and as he counts it all joy that he is given the opportunity to serve, contribute his quota to the development of humanity.
While he sees this just as another milestone achievement, the people and Nigerians at large are the bigger winner, this is because it is a hard to be achieved feat for the people who are the electorate to always at every electoral season elect men of true and good virtue. The realities of the Nigerian political class have seen it been plagued with political figures who sees politics as another means to acquire wealth and boost public status. Senator Tolu Odebiyi beyond all reasonable doubt that he is the man for the job, for many other political figures, there is always little or nothing to show forth for their entire years of serving the people in terms of life changing and sustainable projects that will see to the growth and development of the people. As a senator, he has been able to sponsor numerous bills in the red chamber, among these bills are
- A bill for an Act to establish the National institute of Border Studies in Imeko Ogun state
- A bill for an Act to amend the National youth service corps Act No:51 of 1993 and for other matters related therewith
- A bill for an Act to establish the chartered institute of administrators `and registrars of Nigerian Universities.
- A bill for an Act to alter the constitution pf the federal republic of Nigeria, 1999 CAP C23 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 to make provision for change of name of the area referred to as Egbado in Ogun State to Yewa as contained in Part 1 SEC 3[1] of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria 1999 [as amended]
Recently the highly proactive Senator Tolu Odebiyi on the 14th of April 2021 on the floor of the house sponsored the bill for an act to provide the establishment of the National Burns and Rehabilitation Center Ilaro, Ogun State. According to him, the purpose of the bill is to ensure that there is a facility to provide intensive treatment and rehabilitative needs of burns victim and to train capable hands in the treatment of burns related injuries
Also it will be recalled the selfless activities of Senator Tolu Odebiyi, during the outbreak of the novel virus, the Covid-19 pandemic which led to an economic breakdown which as caused as a result of the lockdown rule imposed to curb the spread of the virus in the country. while other political figures politicized the situation using the opportunity to get cheap political and social attention, Senator Tolu Odebiyi in all honesty and goodwill rose to the occasion, taking it upon himself that his people do not suffer the onslaught of the pandemic. Foods were given out; monetary palliatives were also given to the people to boost their socio-economic outlook. He even went as far as sponsoring public health infomercials and also saw to the distribution of sanitizers and medical nose masks.
Furthermore, he has worked assiduously with the federal ministry of works in fixing the following roads, Ota-Abeokuta, the Atan-Agbara road and the Ita Oshin-Iyana Ibara Orile road.
Unrelenting in his giant strides to ensure that his people are not left behind in reaping the good dividends of democracy, he has highlighted several other projects worth N223.5 million to his Constituency.
Among them is the supply of farm seedlings and pesticides to farmers in Ogun West Senatorial district, Training and provision of fingerlings to fish farmers in Ogun West Senatorial district, construction of hand pumping boreholes across 5 LGAs of Ogun West Senatorial district among many other projects.
Through the Tolu Odebiyi undergraduate scholarship, over 50 students drawn across Ogun West Senatorial District have been offered a full undergraduate scholarship. Also, Senator Tolu Odebiyi has facilitated the poverty alleviation and skill acquisition program for market women and youths in the district. Among his numerous laudable achievements is the donation of ICT equipment such as laptops and gadgets to 75 students as well as women entrepreneurs in his local government area.
Many members of his constituency now boast of having a good job all thanks to the move of Senator Tolu Odebiyi who saw to it that his constituent members are able to secure jobs in places like FCTA, ARMTI Ilorin, the National Assembly, the Nigerian Police Force and also with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense.
More recently, the little town of Moro Community, Yewa North, Ogun State which has been faced with the critical challenge of the non-availability of water ever since the town as founded received the unprecedented as Senator Tolu Odebiyi rose to the occasion by providing to the community a borehole which is capable of supplying the whole community.
More importantly, senator Tolu Odebiyi has flawlessly stayed off any form of scandal which could have put a dent on his highly impeccable history as a public servant, without any doubt, it is evident that Senator Tolu Odebiyi is a true progressive, one who understands the need for a selfless disposition in the pursuit of seeking the greater good of all.
