Group Canvases Support For Adams To Become PDP Chairman
Some youths across Ondo State under the aegis of Umbrella Party Youth Coalition (UPYC) have thrown their support behind Alhaji Fatai Adams to become the next Chairman of PDP in Ondo State.
The group declared their support for Adams in an interview granted by its Organizing Secretary, Mr Adeola Yusuf on Sunday in Akure. He said that the declaration of support for Adams had become necessary in view of his years of total commitment to the umbrella party since he became a member.
Speaking on the chances of Adams in the congress, Yusuf said, “He is clearly the next Ondo State PDP Chairman. Alhaji Adams has everything working for him and I am certain that he has the support of a clear majority of our party members. He stands out as an aspirant who has never changed his political party since 1999.
“Also, he has never worked against the PDP in all elections even in the face of irresistible entreaties by the opposition party. This to me represents the hallmark of a loyal, faithful and trusted leader”.
Meanwhile, Yusuf has also described Adams who is the incumbent Deputy Chairman of PDP in Ondo State as the best qualified person that can efficiently pilot the party to success in the October governorship election.
Yusuf further said, “We cannot afford to hand over our to someone that will easily sell out when juicy carrot is dangled before him. We know them and we know their antecedent. We need someone that will not only resist temptation, but a tested and trusted person that has all it take to unite all members of PDP in Ondo State for victory”.
While responding to question on the chances of PDP in the October governorship election, Yusuf said that he was not best placed to assess the chances of the party in the gubernatorial election. But, he however emphasized that the umbrella party stood a good chances of regaining power if the right things are done.
“This is not a rocket science. The right things must be done for our party to emerge victorious. We must elect a State Chairman that can put an end to segregation, factions and end divisions in the party. We need a Chairman that will champion unity, common goal and oneness in the party. Once these are in place, victory is definitely certain for us,” added Yusuf.
