FREE SKILLS ACQUISITION: LANDMARK VOCATIONAL AND INNOVATIVE INSTITUTE GRADUATES STUDENTS

History was made today in Ondo Kingdom as Landmark Vocational and Innovative Institute in conjunction with Landmark Polytechnic, Ondo State Chapter, graduated her first set of students.

The free skills acquisition programme is an initiative of the Deputy Majority Leader, Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olamide Oladiji Landmark to empower his constituents that are in need of Semi – Formal education free of charge to establish their footings economically in life.

The extensively run three (3) months programme is the first of its kind in Ondo Kingdom with an initial set of 150 students running different Vocations and Skills.

Some of the programmes undertaken by the graduating students include; Leather Works (Bags, Shoes), Computer Training and Maintenance, Confectionery, Animal Husbandry, Cosmetology, Fashion Designing, Hairdressing, Decoration, House Products Production(Soaps ,Germicides, Hair Cream, Body Cream) etc.

According to Hon. Olamide Oladiji Landmark, “The gesture was borne out of my determination and commitment to empower my people with long lasting knowledge that will transform into self reliance for them and for economic liberation.

“All beneficiaries of the programme should ensure that they make use of the opportunities and knowledge acquired in the Centre for self reliance.”

The Ondo born lawmaker further stated in his speech that the programme is a continuous one with zero cost from the applicants and over three hundred newly admitted students took the Matriculation oath today.

While speaking at the occasion, the Ondo State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. David Oleyelogun who represented the Ondo State Governor at the event declared the programme as the best form of empowerment anyone can give to people in order for them to be equipped mentally to achieve economic prosperity on their own. He also gave kudos to Hon. Olamide Oladiji Landmark for redefining politics in another perspective for the sake of humanity.

Diploma certificates were later presented to the deserving graduands amidst cheers and applauses.

Dignitaries from all walks of life attended the occasion among whom were Ondo East and West Local Government Chairmen, Hon. Akinkuotu Wale Little and Hon. AkInsulire Ayodeji Ebenezer respectively. Others were Deputy Chief of Staff to the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Prince Omojuwa Olusegun, Ondo State All Progressives Congress (APC) Acting State party Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, members of APC State Working Committee, Ondo State House of Assembly Members, Chief Olabisi Johnson (OJ), Royal Fathers, political leaders and a host of others.
