The Deputy Governor Candidate of the Labour Party, Dayo Awude and his group, the Sunshine Grassroots Network (SGN) has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing deep appreciation to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and the Minister of Interior, Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, for their roles in facilitating the move.
In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Dayo Awude, the group commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for personally receiving members of the network and assuring them that the APC remains open and welcoming to all.
“With his words of assurances, Mr Governor proved to us that indeed the party is home for us, and open to all,” the statement read.
SGN also lauded Minister Tunji-Ojo for initiating the conversations that paved the way for the defection, as well as for his encouragement and support in making the event a success. The group described him as a “performing minister and a good ambassador” of Ondo State.
The party’s State Chairman, Mr Ade Adetimehin, and APC leaders at all levels were also appreciated for the “very warm reception” accorded the group throughout the process.
“To the generality of our brothers and sisters in the APC, we say thank you. God bless you all,” Awude added.
The defection marks a new chapter for SGN as it aligns with the ruling party in Ondo State ahead of future political engagements.
