CPA Demand Immediate Probe into Attack on LASTMA Officials by Army Personnel
Centre for Public Accountability CPA, a civil society organization dedicated to upholding justice and accountability, express our deep concern over the continued cases of incidents involving attacks on officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority LASTMA, by personnels of the Nigerian Army in various parts of Lagos.
This incidents raises serious questions about the rule of law, the safety of civilians, and the need for transparency and accountability within our security forces.
The recent incident, which occurred, when LASTMA officers were discharging their legitimate duties, is an alarming breach of public trust and security. Our organization firmly believes that no one is above the law, and incidents like these not only erode public confidence but also undermine the efforts of law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order.
We call upon the relevant authorities, including the Lagos State government and the Nigerian Army authority, to swiftly launch an independent and impartial investigation into this incident. The investigation should be thorough, transparent, and free from any external influence, ensuring that justice is served and those responsible for the attack on LASTMA Officials are held accountable for their actions.
Furthermore, we urge all stakeholders to exercise restraint and avoid any actions that might escalate tensions. We believe in the power of dialogue and collaboration, and it is imperative that all parties involved work together to address this issue in a manner that upholds the principles of justice, human rights, and the rule of law.
