COVID-19 :Eddy Olafeso Donates Three Million Naira To Less Privilege

The South West National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and governorship aspirant of the party, Dr. Eddy Olafeso has made a cash donation of N3 million to the less privilege in Ondo State and the chapters of the party in all the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State.

Olafeso announced the donation at his Alagbaka, Akure residence on Saturday. He donated N1.2 million to all the less privilege citizens of Ondo State. He also donated N100,000 each to all the chapters of PDP in the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State.

While addressing party leaders at the event, Olafeso said that no amount donation made would be enough because the people had already sank too deep into poverty. He said, “I have earmarked N3 million since day before yesterday. It ought to be more though, but even if I made N300 million available, it will still not be enough because our people have sank too deep into poverty”.

Meanwhile, Olafeso has also made a clarification that it was not really the amount of money he donated that really matter, but the good intention. He said that similar gesture of N100,000 each was earlier extended to all the local government chapters of PDP in Ondo State before the out gone executive members left office.

“It is the heart that counts and not the quantum of what you can do and the regularity at which you can remember people. It will be more when we get to government. Dr. Olusegun Agagu was always giving out something to party members during every festival period. We hope to replicate same by the time we get to power”.

Moreso, Olafeso has advised the party leader at the event to ensure unity in the Ondo State chapter of PDP. He also admonished the party leaders not to get carried away by the love being shown to the party by the people of Ondo State. He added that being liked by the people was not enough to bring result. He further emphasized that only the unity amongst party members could bring result.

“Clear conscience, transparency, honesty and dedication to duty is the only way we can win. I cannot do it alone, that is why I keep on hammering on collegiate leadership. Nobody is an island of knowledge” said Olafeso.

However, Olorogun Olafeso has likewise advised all the local government chairmen of PDP in Ondo State not to play politics of hatred. He urged the chairman to treat people that voted for them and those that voted against them equally.

“Those that vote for you and those that did not vote for you must be carried along. None of them should be seen as enemies. We are the power house of this party. I will meet those that are going away, those that have gone away and those that are coming back”.

Olafeso told the gathering that he
started his political journey in the PDP in year 2002 when he contested for House of Representatives seat of Irele/Okitiupupa Federal Constituency. The Okitipupa born Olafeso also informed that he later became the State Secretary of the PDP and from being a Secretary, he became Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Mobilization during the administration of Dr. Olusegun Agagu. He attested to the fact that governance was felt in every nook and cranny of Ondo State during the period.

Meanwhile, Eddy has once again lamented that Ondo State has no reason being poor with the right leadership. He said Ondo State lost
the opportunity to have enough money to develop the people and create a place of pride for them during the administration of late Dr. Olusegun Agagu. He however expressed optimism that the sun could still shine brightly in Ondo State.

“Ondo State has no business being poor because God gave us everything to be rich. But the reason why we are still poor is because we still don’t have focused leadership that we begin to deal with the situation of the People like Olusegun Agagu did. The plan by Agagu at that time was to make sure that we open up the economy of the state and generate enough resources for human and capital development”, stressed Olafeso.
