COURT DOCKED ODUA MANAGEMENT

The National Industrial court of Nigeria, Ibadan Division Docked the Company Secretary, Mrs Abiola Ajayi and the Head of Human Resources, Dr.Morakinyo Oloyede of Odua Investment company Limited, at the presumed hearing of a case instituted by a management staff of the company, Mr. Biodun Adedeji over oppression, discrimination and misrepresentation of facts to the Board of the Company. The presiding judge Justice J Peters was dissatisfied with the conduct of the officials of the company by beating the bailiff on two occasions when the bailiffs were attempting to serve the court processes. The judge described the attitude and the conduct of the company as an insult to the judiciary. He was unhappy that the company that ought to be the pride of a nation is being run down by the present management. The cocoa house was described by the counsel as a market place which has no security and unsafe for elite to go. The judge who was determined to convict the officials of the company was prevented by the passionate appeal by the counsel Mr. Adenipekun SAN representing Afe Babalola & CO who pleaded profusely to the judge not to convict the Odua officials but promised to do the needful by publicly apologising to the judiciary for the misconduct of Odua officials and appease the bailiffs. The judge decried that Odua is not a government agency or ministry, but established through CAMA but the present management has failed to realise this and they are behaving as if they are above the law. Another counsel, Mr. Fadairo SAN, also appealed to the judge not to jail the company officials but temper justice with mercy with a promise that the company would apologise publicly to the judiciary. He agreed that the company has been run down by the present management but the owner States States Governor have not shown sufficient interest in the company. In his ruling, Justice J Peters ordered that the company should apologise to the judiciary publicly and discharged the company officials. The case is adjourned till November 25 2020
