BTO media office enlighten curious constituent on lawmaker’s activities

The attention of the media office of Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on NDDC and lawmaker representing Akoko Northeast/West at the Green Chamber has been drawn to a comment by a concerned constituent advising the lawmaker to settle down and face his business.

While we appreciate his comment as a sincere criticism of the activities of the lawmaker, we find it imperative to enlighten the constituent on the necessity of the constituency visit to Abuja on the invitation of BTO.

It is also important to set the record straight that the visit is neither a jamboree nor a distraction as the constituent seems to have wrongly perceived.

The House of Reps is presently on recess and there seems to be no better time than now for BTO to attend to different groups of people with different concerns from his constituency and from the mandate areas. As such, he cannot distance himself from people who need to personally bring their pressing issues to his notice. The participatory style of legislation and generous deployment of authority already adopted by BTO should rather be commended.

It may also interest you to know that as a true representative of his people and Chairman of a sensitive Committee in the House, BTO has since gotten to work even before he was inaugurated as a lawmaker. This is why while many are still finding it difficult to find their bearing at the Green Chamber, BTO has already facilitated projects to his constituency in just three months after his inauguration.

It is unprecedented in the history of political representation in this country for a first-time lawmaker to achieve such a feat in his first three months in office. While this has continued to receive commendations from monarchs, leaders and other members of the constituency, BTO is not complacent and not stopping as he is poised to do more.

Thank you, your concern is well appreciated.
