Akure/Idanre Land Dispute: Act Now to Avert Bloodshed, Idanre Chiefs advise Akeredolu

The people of Idanre Community in Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo state have appealed to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to avert imminent bloodshed and breakdown of law and order in the state by intervening in the deputed lands between Akure and Idanre.

They said the vast area of ancestral land of Olokuta, Aponmu and Ajebambo communities belonging to the people of Idanre are being forcefully taken by the people of Akure while their farm crops are being destroyed.

In a petition to Governor Akeredolu by Owa of Idanre-in -Council (High Chiefs) thought their solicitor, John Olowokere Esq noted that they have been pushed to the wall and they are battle ready to explode like a gun powder.

“We want to say that nobody has Monopoly of violent as any further trespassing on Idanre land at the affected communities shall be met with strength for strength, violent for violent and bloodbath for bloodbath as civility of the Idanres in the affected communities has been taken for granted to be a weakness”, they vowed.

The Owa of Idanre-in-council said the whole scenario came to head recently when some people came with armed thugs who shot sporadically under the guise that they were acting under instruction of the Deji of Akureland saying that if not that Idanre people exercised the greater restraint, possible huge bloodbath would have ensued in the process.

They alleged that some people are benefiting from the crisis as Akure people have violently without exercising restraint refused to allow peace to reign in the area by continuing to trespassing and encroaching unabated on the portions of the land that peacefully occupation by Idanre.

They warned that if the agents and representatives of Deji of Akureland continue to trigger possible exploision, Idanre community and its elders should not be held responsible because they will resist it and it may lead to bloodshed.

“We are appealing to Governor Akeredolu to urgently intervene by calling Akure people to order and constitute a high powerful peace committee for amicable settlement of the land dispute once and for all so that bloodbath would be averted” they added
