Attention of the Ondo State House of Assembly has been drawn to news making the rounds that the Rt. Honourable Speaker, Oleyelogun Bamidele David and some Members of the House were invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
The House wish to state unequivocally that the news was nothing but a ruse calculated at bringing the name and integrity of the House into a disrepute.
The Rt.Honourable Speaker, Oleyelogun Bamidele David at the weekend attended the Speakers’ conference in Bauchi and presently in Abuja. He will be back in Akure later today Monday 29th March, 2021.
For the records, the Honourable Members being invited for questioning are Members of a House Committee and by constitution, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission as an antigraft agency has the right to invite any citizen for questioning at anytime.
For the umpteenth time the House wishes to state clearly that Chairman of the said Çommittee requested for a sum of money to attend a seminar sometime in December 2019 but approval for the fund came in the height of the covid-19 pandemic and since the Members could not attend the seminar, the money was returned to the treasury.
