A CALL FOR FAIRNESS, BALANCE, AND STRATEGIC VICTORY IN ONDO SOUTH 2027

As the 2027 general elections approach, the issue of equity and fair representation within Ondo South Senatorial District must be addressed with sincerity and courage. The district is made up of three federal constituencies and six local government areas, all of which have benefitted from federal appointments, except Odigbo Local Government. This reality calls for urgent correction in the interest of justice, inclusion, and political success.
A careful review of the current distribution of federal appointments across the district reveals a clear imbalance:

Ese-Odo LGA
Dr. Isaac Kekemeke – APC National Vice Chairman (Southwest)
Ambassador Sola Iji – Nigeria’s Ambassador to Russia
Hon. Donald Ojogo – Member, House of Representatives
Ilaje LGA
Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa – Governor of Ondo State
Hon. Thompson Otito Atikase – NDDC Board Member
Mr. Bola Ajimuda – Federal Commissioner, Federal Character Commission
Dr. Ibikun Omotehinse – HYPREP
Okitipupa LGA
Senator Jimoh Ibrahim – Senator representing Ondo South; Permanent Representative to the United Nations
Dr. Martins Adewinle – Ondo State Representative, Southwest Development Commission
Mrs. Kemi Iyantan – Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission
Irele LGA
Hon. Jimi Odimayo – Member, House of Representatives
Ileoluji/Okeigbo LGA
Hon. Festus Adefiranye – Member, House of Representatives
Barr. (Mrs.) Yejide Ogundipe – SSA to the President on Food Security
Odigbo LGA
No Federal Appointment (NIL)

This stark imbalance is not just a political concern, it is a strategic disadvantage. Elections are won not only by popularity but by inclusion, motivation and visible benefits. The people of Odigbo have remained loyal and consistent in their support for progressive politics, yet they have nothing tangible at the federal level to show for it. This weakens grassroots mobilization and reduces enthusiasm during elections.
If victory is truly the goal in 2027, then equity must guide our decisions.

Zoning the Ondo South Senatorial seat to Odigbo Local Government is not only a matter of justice, it is a smart political strategy. It will energize the electorate in Odigbo, strengthen party loyalty and provide a compelling message for campaign engagement across the district.
Odigbo deserves inclusion. Odigbo deserves representation. Odigbo deserves the Senate seat.

Concerned Odigbo Youths
