The Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Sen. Tolu Odebiyi has charged the Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Command and other relevant security agencies to locate and rescue a commercial driver and three of his passengers abducted on the Abeokuta-Imala-Ilara-Ayetoro Road on Tuesday around 8pm. The victims were kidnapped while returning from the Ilara Market in the Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of the State by four gunmen.
This recent abduction is coming on the heels of several other abductions in the State.
In a statement, the Ogun West Senator charges all the Police and security agencies to form a synergy to search, locate and rescue these victims.
Sen. Odebiyi notes that to combat this excessive criminality in our forests, towns and cities, our nation’s security framework needs to be further rejigged. There is the need for intelligence, counter intelligence and scenario planning.
The Ogun West Senator said, “What is happening now is beyond comprehension, we can not remain hog-tied by these evil men who are always threatening the peaceful coexistence of the country”.
“The worsening security situation in the country is so alarming that we are the most terrorised country after Somalia and Afghanistan. Our people now live in fear and despair”.
“The huge cache of illegal arms and ammunition coming into the country, is the reason we proposed a Bill to establish the National Institute For Border Studies in Imeko, to safeguard our people from terror gangs coming into the country unhindered”.
While imploring the Police to always leverage on creative skills of drone technology to solve security challenges in Ogun West District, Sen. Odebiyi said, “Government needs to strongly build the capacity of security personnel as we are fast losing the war against these mindless criminals”.
