National Democratic Alliance lauds APC over Zoning of NASS Leadership.
Says Abass Choice is in National Interest.
The National Democratic Alliance has applauded the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress APC, over the zoning of positions, of the Principal Officers of the National Assembly, for the incoming session, that is, the 10th Assembly.
The group in a statement signed by its Secretary General, Comrade Olufemi Lawson, said the decision of the party, is a demonstration of the capacity of the party, in promoting the supremacy of the party, and ultimately, preventing internal disputes, that may arise from individual ambition of members. What the APC leadership has done, will greatly ensure that the incoming National Assembly, is such, which will not be working at cross-purpose with the Executive arm, a situation, which normally impede of the progress of the country.
The group said it is delighted, by the choice of Honorable Tajudeen Abass, as the party’s candidate for the House of Representatives Speakership, saying that the APC, has listened and considered the appeal by prominent Nigerians, members of the House of Representatives, individuals and groups who have in the past few makes, espoused on the capacity of Honorable Abass, to the lead the House of Representatives and provide an all inclusive leadership.
“We wish to commend other members of the House of Representatives, who have earlier expressed their interest, in the position of the House Speaker, as we appeal, that all hands must now be on deck, to support the choice of the ruling party. This is very crucial, for an effective cordial relationship between the National Assembly and the incoming new administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,”
We also wish to applaud Governors, of the party, for supporting the NWC, by ensuring that only candidates chosen by the Party, for the position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Senate President, are elected.
“Let it be restated, that Honorable Tajudeen Abass, is a leader, who will uncompromisingly operate an open door and all inclusive leadership, with the determination to work tirelessly, to serve the nation to the best of his ability. He is an ardent believer in the unity and progress of our nation, and most importantly, will ensure equity and fair play, in the interest of our democracy.”
We once again call on Nigerians, particularly lovers of democracy, to support the decision of the APC and its leadership, in order to ensure, that the next National Assembly, is led by experienced, competent and integrity personified leadership.
