FOREMOST TELEVISION STATION PROPRIETOR IN AFRICA AND OWNER OF A MEDIA CONGLOMERATE HIGH CHIEF (DR) #RAYMOND #ALEOGHO #DOKPESI #ENDORSES #AFRICA2020 – #ONEUNITEDAFRICA, EXPLAINS WHY AFRICA IS IN THE NAME OF HIS TELEVISION STATION.

The #AFRICA2020 team, the continental agenda for Pan African Renaissance on the vehicle of #ONEUNITEDAFRICA were hosted by the Chairman Emeritus of the #first Africa’s privately owned Television Station, the AFRICAN INDEPENDENT TELEVISION (AIT), High Chief Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi today.

Studied and later a Lecturer in a far-away Polish University, young Raymond was disturbed by the misconceptions about Africa and the black race, but more alarmed, upon home-coming, about how Africans treat ourselves.

The then erroneously held belief in Poland, like in many other European countries, that Africans have tails and lived on trees was of great concern to him, he said.

This marked the beginning of the vision and his desire to show Africa to the world and tell Africa story from Africans perspective.

Revealing the reason why he chose #Africa Independent Television as name for his media organisation, the Ezoma of Weppa Wanno said, “his believe in Africa and her people, the inherent opportunities, potentials and the waiting to be #tapped’ greatness in #motherland made him conclude that since we can have a United States of America, a #United Africa too will be a good for the continent.

Reacting specifically to the recent #blackonblackattacks in South African, Ghana and the semblance of reprisal in Nigeria, in the outgoing year particularly, the former President, African Students Union, in Poland said “the experiences are most unfortunate, sad, avoidable and so regrettable.

High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, despite his disappointment that fellow Africans could be resented and disdained on any inch of Africa soil, opined that we cannot fold our hands while brothers bear grudges against another.

He said unapologetically,…. i believe that we can work again and walk together as Africans..

In search of solution, he commended all efforts at ending the scourge but thinks other previous attempts have left the discussions only at the level of the Governments.

He agrees with the approach that informed the #AFRICA2020 agenda which is”people-to-people” initiatives as a complement to bilateral efforts between Governments .

He was vehement in his counsel that “now is the time to get people involved as the whole efforts have to be driven by the people .

Concluding, Dr. Raymond Dokpesi beckoned on Nigeria and Nigerians to rise to the needs of Africa and those of Africans. He said, “such needs and allied challenges can be met, principally, by efforts of Nigerians as a result of our God-given position and opportunities in Nigeria.

He believed that a #unitedAfrica is achievable, even as he identified with the defined intiatives and processes of #AFRICA2020 as enunciated in the six (6) pronged activities.

He pledged to support and spell-out his roles and agrees strongly that #music can be used as a tool to speak to the mind of the youths who possibly form the larger number of the perpetrators, this is the reason why he has supported similar initiatives over the years.

The #AFRICA2020 : The Unity Agenda for the continent themed #ONEUNITEDAFRICA had earlier in the year been endorsed by Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Goodluck Jonathan, His Excellency the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoferry Onyeama, Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, His Excellency,Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, former President Africa Business Round table, Basorun Dele Momodu, Publisher Ovation Magazine International, Mr Segun Adeniyi, Ace Journalist, former Presidential Spokesperson and Chairman Editorial Board of Thisday Newspapers.

The endorsement of High Chief Raymond Dokpesi closes the year 2019 on a high note and prepares the project for full swing action in the new year 2020.
