BE LAW ABIDING – ONDO HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY CHARGES ELECTORATE
As members of Ondo State House of Assembly resumed today after a 7 week recess a call has gone to the electorates in the State, particularly the youths to be law abiding as the electioneering period is gradually approaching.
Speaking through the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon.Oleyelogun Bamidele David, the lawmakers made the call during a plenary sitting, held at the House of Assembly Complex today.
While stressing the importance of peace in a society, Oleyelogun appreciated Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN for maintaining the peace in the State.
Welcoming members to the House after a short recess, the Speaker commended them for their selfless services and contributions to the overall interest of the People of Ondo State.
Kudos was given to the the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASSU) for calling off its 8 month old strike, urging them not to go on strike again in the interest of Nigerian students and national development.
Appreciating the Minister for State for Transportation, Prince Ademola Adegoroye for his hospitality during the visit of a delegation of the House of Assembly led by the Speaker to his Office in Abuja, Oleyelogun said the Minister had assured the people of Ondo and Ekiti States that the federal government had not abandoned the reconstruction of the Akure-Ado Ekiti road ,while the proposed Deep Sea Port in Ondo State would soon become a reality.
The lawmakers commiserated with the people of Ekiti State over the death of the former Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly,late Rt.Hon Funminiyi Afuye and a member of Lagos State House of Assembly,Hon.Olayiwola Olawale which he described as an irreparable loss to the States, thanked God for the successful burial ceremony of the mother of Ondo State Governor, late Evangelist Grace Akeredolu,JP over the weekend.
Earlier, the majority leader, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi had moved the motion for the matters to be discussed on the floor and seconded by Mohammed Taofik.
Plenary was later adjourned till tomorrow, 17th September, 2022.
