Times like these present the people the opportunity to dutifully elect new leaders, ones who will not only sustain the interest of the people but also advance it. For the people of Akure North/South Federal Consistency, they have a huge and sensitive task before them and this they must do with every sense of honor and respect.
The task of electing a new representative who will represent them at the Green Chamber is one which they cannot afford to fail at, the departed Hon. Adedayo Omolafe raised the bar, and we must ensure that as we head to the polls in few days’ time, we must set aside every feeling or notions of sentiments and elect a credible and worthy representative.
It is not enough that we raise frivolous yardstick which has no recourse to merit to unduly influence the vote of the electorate. If we must vote, we must ensure that we vote a candidate with the right credentials, one with the much needed qualities to lead and manage resources.
It is not enough that you are a youth or that you have money to throw around, what the people need is someone who can deliver, one with a proven track record, one with an history that the people can relate with.
It is high time we do away with anti-democratic and anti-progressive features, merit should always be the key to us electing new leaders and it is my wish that the electorate will see beyond the gimmicks of our political system to make the right choice when they head for the polls to pick their next leader.
