Traditional ruler of Osi kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba David Olajide Okunato, Ilufemiloye 1, the Iresi of Osi has commemorated the occasion of seven years on the throne of his forebears. People of Osi were also filled with joy that the seven years reign of their monarch has brought unprecedented development to the agrarian town.
Osi is an ancient town founded around 13th century and it
shares boundaries with Oba-Ile, Igoba, Isinigbo and Itaogbolu in Akure North Local Government of Ondo State. Residents of the
community yet expressed immense joy that the ascendancy of Oba David Olajide Okunato has truly changed the narrative of the community with the
blessings, unprecedented growth and developmental projects so far witnessed.
Residents of the community also thanked the monarch for his dogged and altruistic commitment to the development of Osi. They equally expressed appreciation for the transformation so far witnessed within the seven years reign of Oba David Olajide Okunato. The traditional ruler was however, described by his subjects as a pillar of support and a man after God’s heart.
In his remark, Oba Olajide Okunato said his time on the throne has truly been a memorable one.The monarch added that he has been opportune to enjoy maximum support of the people; which according to him has made it possible for various community sustenance projects and initiatives to spring forth in the community.
“With the help and cordial relationship of my people which I do enjoy, has made my seven years on the throne full of numerous achievements. Osi was once what I can call an hamlet or a village. But it is now a town to be reckoned with”.
Speaking further on developments that have so far taken place in the community, the monarch said a lot of his personal resources had been committed to several developmental projects witnessed in Osi community.
“In 2015, I opened the road and built police station which was also commissioned. We were sharing transformer with Igoba before I bought a 500 KV transformer and also ran high tension so that Osi can enjoy more power supply.
“In Osi we have our customized pre-paid meters. I fixed street lights. I renovated our health center to standard and built 3 bedrooms apartment for doctors and nurses working in our primary health center. Same thing was also done for our magistrate court. We have proposed a 24 plots site for our secondary school where construction will commence.soon. In a bid to bring Osi to the limelight, I built my own private company, Lumintech, which is a Solar System manufacturing company in the town. This has been attracting people from the nooks and crannies of the country to Osi”
Oba Olajide Okunato also stressed that he had personally spent huge resources to ensure that lives and properties are secure in the community.
“In terms of security, I have built a divisional police station in Osi. Not only that, I gave Zone 17 fifty plots of land. The project was self sponsored while start-up office was also built for the police. I spent millions of naira on Zone 17 which is Ondo/Ekiti Zonal Command. It is a federal government project, but I undertook the project to support our government”.
Meanwhile, the traditional ruler has
in the last seven years embarked on road network with the community. This effort has led to the opening up of several virgin roads in Osi, one of which is a 2 kilometers wide and 5 kilometers long road that leads to the major express road. He has also built several culverts across the community. Although most of the new roads are yet to be asphalted because of huge capital that is required.
Moreover, Oba Olajide Okunato also spoke on his plan to set up internet hub in Osi community which he sad would serve Nigeria and the entire African continent. He added that the industrial plan was aimed at bringing economic buoyancy to his domain.
“Our internet will be cheaper and accessible across Nigeria and Africa. By the time people trace the source of our internet service to Osi, it will boost the state economy and that of the agrarian community
which has around 6500 inhabitants”, added Oba Olajide Okunato.
