I had the privilege of a few hours of heart to heart discussion with a gentleman who would definitely become the Deputy Governor of Ondo State after our assured victory (God willing) at the courts.
This opportunity of conversation with Hon. Ikengboju Gboluga, member representing Irele/Okitipupa Federal Constituency at National Assembly has changed my perception of the gentleman who comes clearly as being unassuming and quite truthful to his strength, weaknesses and failings. The occasion was the 60th birthday celebration of our principal, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede SAN. Ikengboju is a nice young man who worked as a pharmacist with 25years experience in the UK. He’s indeed a pride to Ikale land and Ondo State in general and the passion with which he spoke about his homeland and people, is quite enjoyable.
His incursion into the terrain of politics was when he contested for House of Representstives and won the primary Election of PDP in 2014 before the truncation of that victory by the former Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko. He is unassuming and urbane grassroot politician that has submitted himself to the murky waters of Nigerian politics with it’s attendant intrigues.
In my meeting with him, we trashed out so many misconceptions. He is indeed a wonderful politician that knows his onions. I now know why our principal picked him as his deputy. No one is perfect but together, we can all make things better.
