Nigeria realities: Yorubas and Hypocrisy

We must rise above the waters of sentiments and tribal differences to acknowledge the truth, especially when it comes to the affairs of our national discourse.

For the sake of posterity, we must learn to call a spade, a spade. We must not because of our personal gains throw caution against the wind and call white black.

Lamido Sanusi once said, Nigeria will never progress until the Yoruba are true to themselves. It’s rather sad and disappointing to see the Yoruba in the course of our national existence always protest themselves as hypocrites.

We have this canny way of proving our loyalty to the Northerners by engaging in acts that are not worthy of a true Omoluabi.

Just to please them, we have turned ourselves to praise singers even when it’s obvious that realities are being distorted.

On the pages of the social media, we have made a piecemeal of ourselves hypocrites.

However we must come to accept and acknowledge the bitter truth, Nigeria will never progress until we stay true to our identity and unite to fight for a common progressive course.
