Ondo 2020: Ondo State is not Edo- Ojogo
…PDP to consolidate on its victory in Edo for Ondo, Enikuomehin
The just concluded Gubernatorial Election in Edo State which gave Governor Godwin Obaseki of the People’s Democratic Party victory over his rival Pastor Ize Iyamu of the All Progressive Congress has been described as a win for the people.
This was stated by the Director Media, Ondo PDP Campaign Organization, Dr Benson Enikuomehin on Politics Today on Channels. According to the PDP Chieftain he explained that elections in Nigeria are won by the people and in Edo State this came to fruition as the people of Edo made their choice by electing a leader of their preference. Giving credence to the people, he added that the people stood for their votes in Edo state as they ensured that right from the units to the wards, to the local government and to the state, their votes counted as they did not allow any factor bring about an undue manipulation of the electoral process in the State.
He also stated that the recent victory of the People’s Democratic Party in Edo State has given the Party the much needed boost in Ondo State ahead of the October 10 election. He explained that when success is attained, we must learn from and as a result of this the PDP is well prepared for victory in Ondo. He added that the gubernatorial election in Ondo State is one for the people to make their choice on whom they want to steer the affairs of the State for the next four years
In a more similar fashion, the Ondo State Commissioner for Information, Mr Donald Ojogo have stated that there’s nothing to worry about for the All Progressive Congress in Ondo State, explaining that the circumstances surrounding the Edo State governorship election is very much different to what we have in Ondo State. The Commissioner explained that that if the people of Edo voted to continuity in governance then the people of Ondo State will do no different.
While responding to the question of the popularity of the PDP flag bearer Eyitayo Jegede in the State capital which is also his hometown and the fact that the All Progressive Congress lost the last Presidential election in the State to the PDP, the commissioner stated that the party may have lost the Presidential election however the PDP has more to worry about as they lost the State House of Assembly election which came up two weeks after the Presidential election saw the All Progressive Congress claimed almost all the seats in the house of Assembly.
He concluded that the All Progressive Congress is geared and prepared for victory in the State has the Akeredolu led administration has given the people of Ondo State something to vote for which is good governance.
