Alleged Internal Mobilisation Sparks Claims of Planned Anti-Presidency Protests in Ondo State
Fresh claims have emerged suggesting that political actors in Ondo State may be coordinating a wider mobilisation effort linked to planned protests targeting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with activities reportedly already underway and expected to spread across the state’s 18 local government areas.
The development follows the circulation of an internal directive attributed to the Forum of Supervisors & Advisers in Ondo State, which instructed members to converge on Ore for what was described as a “peaceful protest” relating to the National Working Committee’s handling of National Assembly results.
However, additional claims from a source within the Government House have added a more politically sensitive dimension to the unfolding situation.
According to the source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, the original intent behind the mobilisation goes beyond internal party grievances and is allegedly aimed at staging protests against the President. The source further claimed that similar activities reportedly commenced as early as the previous day and are now being expanded into a coordinated effort across all 18 local government areas in the state.
“The original plan is deeper than what is being publicly presented. It is about protests against the President, and they already started yesterday. The current strategy is to scale it across all 18 local government areas,” the source alleged.
The source also expressed concern over the leadership approach within the state government, describing it as troubling and increasingly isolated from internal counsel.
“The move by the governor is alarming and worrisome. He is not listening to advice from other cabinet members, and they are beginning to lose faith in him,” the source added.
The claims, which could not be independently verified at the time of filing this report, come amid growing political tension within local government structures allegedly being drawn into coordinated mobilisation efforts.
Officials of the Ondo State Government and the APC have not issued an official response to the allegations.
