A Plea for Improved Governance in Ondo State: An Open letter to HE. Hon. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa.
Dear HE. Hon. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa,
I am writing to bring to your attention some pressing concerns regarding the current situation in Ondo State. It is evident that what is happening in Ondo State today is primarily driven by political agendas rather than a focus on governance. The repercussions of this approach are dire, as the populace is enduring significant hardships.
It is disheartening to note that the citizens are left to their own devices in crucial aspects such as generating electricity, sourcing water supply, and even constructing basic infrastructure such as roads, high-tension poles, and transformers. This vacuum created by the lack of governmental support is leading to immense suffering among the people.
Furthermore, businesses in the Ondo State are grappling with excessive tax demands from governmental bodies without substantial assessments. The lack of patronage and support from the government is exacerbating the challenges faced by these enterprises, ultimately leading to their demise. This detrimental cycle is not sustainable and urgently requires attention.
It is imperative that the state government realign its priorities and dedicate more time and effort towards governance rather than being entangled in political maneuvers. Effective and efficient governance is essential to address the myriad issues faced by the citizens and foster a conducive environment for the development of the state.
There is an urgent need for a paradigm shift in the approach to governance in Ondo State, there are numerous areas in which significant improvements must be made, the current status quo is untenable, and substantive changes must be implemented to facilitate progress and prosperity for all residents. It is imperative that we do not allow the current situation to persist any longer.
I hope that prompt action will be taken to address these critical issues and pave the way for a brighter future for Ondo State.

Afin Akoko,
Ondo State.
