“Youth Network Calls for Action: Alleged Signature Forgery Sparks Demand for Accountability”

The Ondo State Youth Network (OSYN) is deeply troubled by the recent revelations surrounding the alleged forgery of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s signature on an official document. The gravity of this situation has prompted OSYN to advocate for swift and decisive action.

A forensic report by the Association of Forensic Professionals of Nigeria (AFPON) obtained has unveiled disturbing findings. Signed by Mr. Nuhu Kutana Tanko, the report indicates that Governor Akeredolu’s signature on the questioned document does not match known specimen handwritings. The implications of this revelation extend beyond the immediate concern of forgery, raising questions about the integrity of official documentation within the state.

The investigation, initiated by the State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Razaq Obe, has confirmed the forgery and raised serious doubts about the authenticity of other official documents. This development is particularly disconcerting given Governor Akeredolu’s legal background as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and former President of the Nigerian Bar Association.

In response to these troubling revelations, OSYN urges the federal government to intervene, implores the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),and Nigeria Police to conduct a thorough investigation. Simultaneously, we call on the Ondo State House of Assembly to take a constitutional stance on this matter, prioritizing transparency and adherence to due process.

Afe Ezekiel, Coordinator of OSYN, emphasizes the urgency of addressing this crisis and restoring public confidence in the governance of Ondo State. He states that if Razaq Obe’s allegations are correct, the perpetrators must be brought to book and face trial. However, if he is wrong, Obe must be punished for putting the state in pandemonium. Quick action to resolve this matter is imperative, or the network will embark on a peaceful street demonstration to further show displeasure.

OSYN issues this press statement, extending the organization’s best wishes for Governor Akeredolu’s speedy recovery. As the umbrella youth organization in Ondo State, OSYN remains resolute in advocating for accountability, transparency, and a fair investigation into the alleged forgery.

In closing, OSYN calls for a meticulous examination of these allegations, stressing the importance of upholding the principles of justice to ensure the integrity of Ondo State’s governance.
