UNIMED Teaching Hospital Celebrates World Kidney Day with Free Medical Checkup.
The University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH) recently celebrated World Kidney Day by offering free medical checkups to the public. This year’s theme, “Are Your Kidneys OK? Detect Early, Protect Kidney Health,” aimed to raise awareness about kidney health, early detection, and preventive care.
The event featured free health screenings, including blood pressure checks, urinalysis, blood sugar tests, and kidney function assessments. Experienced nephrologists and medical professionals provide counselling and lifestyle modification tips to promote healthy kidneys.
Professor Akinbodewa Ayodeji, who represented the Chief Medical Director, emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and management of kidney diseases. He encouraged the public to adopt healthy habits, such as staying hydrated, controlling blood pressure and blood sugar levels, and undergoing regular medical checkups.
The event saw a large turnout of over 150 participants, who expressed gratitude to UNIMEDTH for the initiative. World Kidney Day is observed annually to highlight the growing burden of kidney diseases worldwide and the need for preventive strategies.
