Tunji-Ojo Condemns Owo Killing, Calls For Calm
The House of Representatives member representing Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency, Rep. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has condemned the killing of congregants of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo Ondo State on Sunday.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), in a statement by his Spokesperson, Alao Babatunde, condoled with the people of the ancient town, the people of Ondo State and families of victims of the unfortunate incident.
“This afternoon, I was rattled by the news of activities of unknown individuals who have chosen to tread a path of violence and utmost disregard for the sanctity of life, our shared communal values which frowns at violence and evil.
“It’s more heart-breaking and unfortunate that our dear peaceful Sunshine State was turned into a scaffold where heinous crimes were perpetrated even in the church.
“Unarmed worshippers were killed untimely, children killed even before their lives began and families thrown into eternal sorrow.
“A Black Sunday couldn’t have been anything than what we have experienced as a people today.
While urging residents of the State to remain calm, the lawmaker expressed confidence in the State government to fish out the perpetrators.
