The Ondo State House of Assembly congratulate Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu (SAN) on his victory at the Election Petition Tribunal in Akure.
The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in last Governorship Election in Ondo State Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) had earlier approached the tribunal seeking to upturn the victory of Governor Akeredolu at the polls and requesting the tribunal to declare him winner instead.
The request of Mr Eyitayo Jegede was however turned down by the Election Petition Tribunal in a unanimous judgement delivered by the lead judge, Justice Umar Abubakar.
In their congratulatory message to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu the APC caucus in the House maintained that his victory at the Governorship polls was well deserved.
In a statement signed by Chairman House Committee on Information Youth and Sports Development, Honourable Olugbenga Omole Speaker of the House Rt Honourable Oleyelogun Bamidele David noted that the voice of the good people of Ondo State was re-echoed by the tribunal through the verdict.
” People of Ondo State freely gave their mandate to Governor Akeredolu in the October 2020 governorship election as expressed in the election result returned by INEC”
“It will be difficult to upturn the will of the people.” The statement read.
The body of Lawmakers attributed the support being freely enjoyed by Governor Akeredolu to his performance in office which they claimed cuts across all segments of the society.
“We are glad to associate with you on this well deserved victory and do promise our unalloyed support for your government towards bringing more dividends of democracy to the teeming people of Ondo State”
While congratulating the Governor on this well deserved victory, the Lawmakers pledged to continue to legislate on quality issues that would improve the lives of the people.
They in turn urged the people of Ondo State to continue to support Governor Akeredolu in order to further enjoy democracy dividends.
